Made "Bad Decisions"? Time to Redeem Yourself!
Updated: Oct 18, 2019
I don't know if you know, but Rosh Hashannah just passed last week. You're probably wondering, "what does this have to do with this song"? Rosh Hashannah is about looking back and the previous year and find a moment you did something and then felt guilty. It is to make sure to work on yourself and make sure you don't make that mistake anymore, or at least not as often. To me, that's what I felt that "Bad Decisions" by Bastille was about. Not only telling us to work on ourselves to not make those same mistakes, but also choosing to do it NOW and not delay them.
"Now we find ourselves lying round here
Always find ourselves falling right here, down here
Can we make the same mistakes till the morning breaks?"
What's really interesting about the production of this song, is the melody is pretty much the same throughout the whole song, just it adds different layers of instruments for when the chorus hits. It's pretty nice because Dan Smith (Lead Singer) is really controlling the timing of this song. He creates the ranges during the verses and chorus. For sure a talent, and most people only know him from "Happier" by Marshmello, or if you're as old as me (I'm only Mid-Twenties) you'll remember his famous song "Pompeii". Anyway this is a great song, and his whole album is just fantastic. They are on tour as well! If you're in LA go see them on October 12th at the Greek Theatre.
